Surgery is a team effort that includes the doctor, his or her staff, and most importantly, the patient. After surgery is complete, almost all procedures require post-operative physical therapy. This is intended to provide guidelines for activities you should and should not perform and the timeline related to this. You will be given a prescription for physical therapy the day of your surgery, however in most cases, you should schedule this in advance so there are no delays in care. Unless advised otherwise, below are the general timelines for starting.
We work with many physical therapists in the Chicagoland area and welcome any questions or concerns they may have. You are welcome to schedule with anyone whom you already have an established relationship with, or at one of our own locations.
